UNITED WAY 211 CONNECTS                PEOPLE TO SERVICES

                              Indiana 211

2-1-1 information and referral is free and easy to use! 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember phone number that connects individuals with services and volunteer opportunities in our community. Through United Way 211, callers can get or give help 24 hours a day, seven days a week by dialing 2-1-1. Trained specialists quickly assess the callers' needs and connect them to services that address issues in their daily lives such as health concerns, counseling, child care, and help for aging parent, employment issues, and much more.
2-1-1 Services are funded annually by the County Commissioners.

GETTING HELP, GIVING HELP

Because of tough economic times, more and more people are seeking help, many perhaps for the first time ever. United Way 211 call specialists provide hope by helping families and individuals access vital services in our community. Here are just a few examples:
  • A recently unemployed man called 211 and the call specialist mailed him a Miami County's Survival Guide on where to turn to in these tough economic times.
  • A women suffering severe tooth pain called 211 seeking a dentist who could provide services on a sliding scale fee. The call specialist provided referrals to Beta Sigma Phi, Dental Clinic. The women followed up and had her tooth extracted. Relieved, she can now concentrate on her job and family, not her pain.
  • A couple facing foreclosure on their home called 211 frantically seeking help. The court officer who served the papers also gave the couple a 211 information card. Within a week they had an appointment at an agency to discuss the possibility of negotiating with the lender, with the hope of staying in their home.
