Bryan Maggart, Peru, was named "Volunteer of the Year" by United Way of Miami County at the 2017 United Way and Funds Volunteer of the Year Awards Banquet held April 13, 2017 at the Indianapolis Marriott North, Indianapolis, IN
United Way volunteers give their time, talent, voice and resources to help strengthen our communities. We believe that it takes individuals from their community groups, corporations and the government to play key roles in addressing the critical issues in their communities to form the future of our economy and to provide education. Through their stories we recognize our personal power to transform ourselves and our community.
Bryan Maggart is this year’s United Way of Miami County’s Co-Campaign Chair because he made his voice heard. Bryan listened to the community and volunteers who wanted to make changes. The United Way’s goal was to bring on eight new millennia’s and/or Generations X, Y, Z volunteers to the Campaign Cabinet. Bryan listened and sought Generation X, Y, and Z volunteers. It was those volunteers who said that social media was needed to move the campaign forward. Bryan took their advice and added a texting marketing plan. With the various options to texting that Bryan brought to this year’s campaign, the United Way exceeded their campaign goal and their texting goal in the first year of his term.
Bryan not only gives of his time and donations, but he also has several other connections with our organization. Bryan had been an employee for American Red Cross and attended several United Way agency meetings; He has served as treasurer of Miami County Child Abuse Prevention Council an agency of United Way. Bryan also served on Miami County’s Emergency Service Shelter Program along with United Way. Congratulations Bryan Maggart for being chosen volunteer of the year for Miami County.
