On Tuesday, December 2, the United Way of Miami County will host a variety of events to celebrate Giving Tuesday. In addition, a grant will provide a dollar-for-dollar match up to $5,000 which allows donors to double their impact in the local community. All contributions will help fund the United Way’s mission-critical
initiatives focused on food and financial security, education, early childhood development and health.

“This year our nonprofit has been hit with a double whammy: the reduction or elimination of many grants and an increase in demand for the services we offer. We rely on the generosity of our community to help us meet the needs of our neighbors and are hopeful individuals and businesses will show up in force to contribute to our 2025 campaign,” shared United Way President Sarah Hudson.

Donuts & Donations
On Giving Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., members of the Board of Directors will host an open house at the Community Resource Center located at 13 E. Main Street. Community members are welcome to stop in to make a donation, learn about the United Way’s local initiatives and enjoy a delicious Derozier donut and cup of Aroma coffee.

Story Time with the Mayor
At 10:30 a.m., families are encouraged to bring their little ones for a book reading and craft at the Peru Public Library located at 102 E. Main Street. The celebrity storyteller will be Peru Mayor Don Sturch. Children will be invited to create a hot air balloon ornament to celebrate the United Way’s “Uplifting Our Community” theme, and stickers and balloons will be available.

Happy Hour for a Cause
From 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., United Way will show its appreciation of supporters by purchasing a glass of beer or wine for donors contributing $20 or more. The networking event will be hosted at Legends Cocktail Lounge located at 69 N. Broadway. Invitation to Local Businesses
